Making pasta al lentil bolognese style……feel welcome to correct my Italian!
This sounds yummy, I like pasta with bolognese sauce but never try with lentils. Never try to make dishes from lentil either….. Gotta try soon….
You don’t use lentils in Vietnamese cuisine then? what do you use instead?
I used brown lentils, you can use green ones, but either has very little flavour so lot s of herbs are helpful, I used herbes de provence and put a good large spoonful of Marmite (yeast extract) in to mimic beef flavour. Also I put in a chopped capsicum pepper and some mild chilli powder to give it a lift. And lots of garlic!
How are you by the way? Had any rain lately? Had too much here, much more tomorrow 🙁
We don’t have lentils in VN, but beans instead like green, yellow, red, black…. all kind of beans…. I don’t know kinds of herb that you told me, not sure why need to use yeast extract (I just know yeast using for making break only)…. Look like I need to follow you to learn about English food :). We’re having a storm…. but it’s not too bad around my place…. Still alot of rain at your place? I am ok until heard a bad new from Vietnam that My grandma has a close- to- last- stage liver cancer this morning :(. Just feel like having a broken heart again….. So much pain to think of.
I’m really so sorry to hear about your grandma, I hope she gets the best care possible. My friend Iordi lost her dad to cancer. He was far from perfect but she often said that he watches over her from heaven, I’m sure your grandma will. My father got lung cancer and passed away far too early at 75 years. I feel sure that people taken that way live on in a spiritual way and look after us. I still have dreams with my dad in after 30 years.
Beans? I can’t digest dried beans, immature green string beans and french beans are OK. Lentils don’t have the toxins that have to boiled out of beans, I think I must react to the remains of the toxins.
If you’d like to find real Italian food look online for “Two Greedy Italians”. Yeast extract seems to be a rare species in the US and you need to watch out for GM content and added MSG but it has a lot of B vitamins in it. Vegemite is similar to Marmite, although it appears to be an Australian brand is used a lot in US recipes.
My health has been up and down, ME is a really weird illness, you can feel perfect or awful, I have to take life as it comes. I’m lucky really, one of my friends with ME has kidney problems and has to spend hours in hospital on dialysis.
To end on a good note, spring flowers are starting to come up some of the trees are showing signs of green, like a haze when the sun shines on them. 🙂
Thank you for your concern about my grandma. I am really sorry to hear about your dad and Lordi father again. I know life is un-expected… but sometime it’s hard to take. My grandma is in the hospital now to have 1 shot…. and we will try to use home-remedies for her as well….
Thanks for the “Two Gready Italians” source, I will take a look. I like Italian food a lot. How are you these days? May I know what wrong with your health? Just hope you feel healthy all the time.
My health? I have had ME (known better as CFS in the US) for over 30 years, it takes you energy, stamina and clear thing away. I haven’t been able to work for many years.
I am really sorry about that… It’s hard when we feel tired all the time…. :(. A friend of mine using some kind of Japanese tea to give her a lot of energy but it’s quite expensive. I hope your health won’t get worse by time.
My post got transmogrified! It should have been “clear thinking”.
Sweetie, can you please find out what kind of tea she is using? I have heard of it but can’t remember the name. It’s worth a try if it is that good!
🙂 We often use home-remedy to cure a lot of diseases… Yes, sure I can ask her the name of the tea for you. I will call her this weekend and let you know ok? I will look if there are any home-remedy that might help you as well.
Thank you Sweetie, I’m glad of anything tat may help me get better. 🙂
